Sykehouse Cottage

A beautiful C17th Holiday Cottage in the Lake District

Things to Do

Sykehouse Cottage makes a wonderful base for touring the Lakes, far enough away from the crowds but near enough to pop in for a day trip to the main tourist attractions.

Our favourite excursions are:

Tarn Hows: 13 miles / 30 mins drive.  If you want to read my post about the place, click here.

Blackwell: 20 miles / 35 mins drive. If you want to read my post about the Blackwell, click here.

Grizedale Forest: 16 miles / 30 mins drive.  My post about their sculpture trail is here.

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway: 13 miles / 30 mins drive.  You can find more about the La’al Ratty here.

Muncaster Castle: 12 miles / 30 mins drive.  Further details can be found and a link to their website can be found here.

Coniston : 9 miles / 20 mins drive.  I have written about the Ruskin Museum here and a snowy walk around the Copper Mines here.

Around Broughton, there are two local attractions:

Duddon Mosses

Duddon Iron Furnace
